Him who rides in the heavens
O kingdoms of the earth, sing to God; sing praises to the Lord [YHVH], Selah to him who rides in the heavens… Psalm 68:32-33 Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God [YHVH], you are very great! You are clothed with splendor and majesty, covering yourself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent. He lays the beams of his chambers on the waters; he makes the clouds his chariot; he rides on the wings of the wind; Psalm 104:1-3 Behold, the Lord [YHVH] is riding on a swift cloud and is about to come to Egypt; Isaiah 19:1
Daniel 7:9-14
9 “As I looked, thrones were placed, and the Ancient of Days took his seat; his clothing was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames; its wheels were burning fire. 13 “I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.
Jesus is God
YHVH (the name of God in Hebrew, which means ‘He who was, who is, and who will be’) is the one who rides the clouds. And the Ancient of Days is already in the scene when the One who Rides the Clouds appears. Somehow distinct yet somehow both YHVH.
Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?” And Jesus said, “I am, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.” And the high priest tore his garments and said, “What further witnesses do we need? You have heard his blasphemy. What is your decision?” And they all condemned him as deserving death. Mark 14:61-65 (parallel passage in Matthew 26:62-66)
Mark records Jesus applying to Himself the title of the Son of Man who comes on the clouds. Why did the high priest tear his clothes and say it was blasphemy? Because he knew the scriptures, that the one who rides on the clouds of heaven is God, YHVH, and Jesus is applying it to Himself.
