Is Jesus God?

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works. Titus 2:11-14

Thomas [the one who doubted most] answered him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:28-29

Yes, Jesus is God.

Jesus doesn’t correct Thomas when Thomas calls Him God. Jesus commends him for finally believing, then blesses those who believe without having to see it for themselves. The simple and longer answers are the same. God’s grace has come to bring salvation; training us to stop our wicked ways, do what’s right, and put all our hope in Jesus, our great God and Savior, who is coming back to receive His own people who are zealous for good works and eagerly waiting on Him.

Jesus is God

The best way to know if Jesus is God, is to get to know the person and character of God, and the person and character of Jesus. We all grew up with some ideas about God and spiritual things. But, instead of our own ideas, let’s read the Bible. God has revealed Himself to you in His word. His character, His desires, and His heart are laid bare on the pages of scripture.

We must not get to the end of days without knowing Him and being known by Him. Even great works, like miracles, done in His name will mean nothing if we don’t know Him and are known by Him. Our prayer is that God will guard you from the original three lies of the serpent: “Did God really say that?” “That’s not what God meant”, and “You can be like God” and replace in us hearts that say “Yes, this is the word of God” “it says what He meant”, and “He is God and I am His creation” and that God Himself would make you firmly rooted and established in faith, not intellectual understanding.

The Bible is God’s word. His revelation of Himself to you. The question is, do you believe it?
